W2S1: Research - Web Design Examples

Things I like:
  • How the text on the images is contained to one corner
  • How the site logo is in the top left of the page and the navigation bar balances it in the top right
  • The images enlarge when you hover over them

Things I like:
  • You can scroll down the images on the left

Things I like:
  • The header is fixed and moves with you as you scroll
  • Simple colour scheme
  • The grid alternates between the image on the left and text on the right, and the text on the left and the image on the right
  • The logo moves when you hover over it
  • The links on the navigation bar change colour when you hover over them

Things I like:
  • How photos and images look like they're at the top of stacks
  • The colour scheme really enhances the feeling of age and nostalgia
  • The clock on the right winds backwards as you scroll down and forwards as you scroll up

Things I like:
  • The bold colour scheme
  • The graphic on the first 'frame'/the home screen of the site
  • The collage of images
  • The big 'Sign Up' and 'Log In' buttons

Things I like:
  • The watercolour style
  • It's a very clean design with a lot of white space
  • The graphic on the first 'frame'/home screen

Things I like:
  • The navigation links are scattered around the page, linked by dotted lines (organic feeling rather than structured)

Things I like:
  • The navigation bar is vertical and on the right-hand side of the page
  • Each section has a different colour and these colours are in rainbow order

Things I like:
  • How everything is organised into hexagons
  • The lines under the navigation links
  • The logo style and also how it is placed in the centre of the page/navigation bar
  • When you entered the site each hexagon faded in individually

Things I like:
  • The illustrations
  • The simple, clean design using lots of white space and sans-serif fonts etc

Things I like:
  • The simple but intriguing first 'frame'/home screen
  • The way the navigation bar is fixed and follows you down the page
  • The ways their is no padding between the images

Things I like:
  • The mix of illustration and photography
  • Interesting artistic font for heading
  • 4 column grid
  • Social media link in the top right to balance navigation bar in the top left of the page

Things I like:
  • Lots of white space
  • Simple navigation
  • Social media links and search bar are balanced on either side of the site name/header
  • Links to featured pages/articles = Large images with only the title/header and date under them

Things I like:
  • The heading is textured and it is the only colour on the page
  • The navigation bar is at the bottom of the page

Things I like:
  • Their is a symbol as well as text for each of the navigation buttons
  • These navigation buttons are large and in the centre of the page on the home screen

Things I like:
  • The interesting style of the logo, site header, navigation bar etc
  • The 3 column grid structure of the links to the feature pages
  • Each link has a square image and it's title in a box underneath it
  • When you hover over each link the colour fades (so that you can see you're hovering over it)
