W1S2: Homework - User Tasks with Paper Prototypes

Homework

  • Create user tasks for each of the 6 user personae (Examples of user tasks: "Find the latest Wellington local politics news" or "Post a comment to an article that I read because my friend linked it on Facebook" etc).
  • Create user journeys and paper prototypes to test the user tasks that you have created.
  • Perform 6 rounds of user testing. Once for each persona and task (These journeys and user tests should be performed assuming the existing Stuff.co.nz design - these journeys can serve as baseline experiences that your designs can be compared against).

User Tasks and Journeys

Paper Prototypes:

Task: Look at the most popular article based on how many times it has been commented on.

User Testing Comments:
The user completed this task very easily as the 'Most Popular' section was easy to spot on the homepage (as it is has its own square and it is "above the fold line").

Task: Your mate told you about a featured article about a teen's weight loss that's in the 'Well & Good' section. Find it.

User Testing Comments:
The user had to think for a minute what section in the main navigation bar the 'Well & Good' heading might be under, but after looking at their options they chose 'Life & Style' on the first try. Once in the 'Well & Good' section the article was easy to find as it was a featured article that day.

Task: Check the Dominion Post homepage for the latest headlines.

User Testing Comments:
The user had a bit of trouble with this task as they didn't immediately spot the 'Newspapers' button and so they weren't sure where to go. They wondered if they could use the search bar.

Task: Post an article to Twitter that you read because a friend shared it on Facebook.

The user found this task very simple and understood what was required immediately. They again expressed happiness at the pop-up, rather than being taken to a different page.
