W1S1: Homework - Looking at News Articles

Three stories from the Dominion Post (1/03/2016):

In all three of these articles I was drawn to the interesting headings and eye-catching images.
Story 1 is the first article in a section about festivals in Wellington. Story 2 is one of the articles in the first few pages of the newspaper (which are about important national news). Story 3 is within the section about festivals in Wellington.

The online versions of these stories (from stuff.co.nz):

*I couldn't find my third story anywhere on stuff.co.nz

In the case of story 1, the components are exactly the same as the print version except they are in a linear lay-out. Story 2 is vastly different from the version that was in the printed newspaper. There are a lot more images and more copy giving a little background to the story. Also, because it is on the web they can add extras like a link to a Givealittle page.

Story 1 User Journey: Stuff.co.nz > Newspapers > Dominion Post > 'Capital Life' Section
Story 2 User Journey: Stuff.co.nz > Article (as this was a main national story is was featured on the main page of Stuff)
Trying to Find Story 3 User Journey: I went to the Dominion Post Newspaper section and looked in the 'Capital Life' and 'Culture' section but I couldn't find my story, so I went to the search bar for the whole of Stuff and searched key words from my story. I looked at the headings and images that popped up but couldn't find any matches.

From these stories you could go to many other articles. There were links to other main stories in the section, to most the most popular stories on stuff, a link to the "next" story, and a link to other stories the user might like (based on articles they've looked at). This was good because it was promoting a lot of other pages that the user might click on to, but at the same time it was quite overwhelming as there were links to stories everywhere on the page and it felt sort of aggressive.

I found that Stuff was very confusing to try and move through to find something if the article you were looking for wasn't a main story. It didn't seem to have a very good organisation system based on when the stories were released etc.
